This is a people business, inside and out, and we welcome all voices to the table.

Definity is focused on building a dynamic, inclusive, high-performance culture where everyone feels a sense of belonging. We know that diversity makes us stronger, so we aim to attract and nurture the best and brightest from a wide variety of backgrounds and lived experiences. IDEA — inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility — is everyone’s job at Definity.

The principles of IDEA are core to Definity’s culture and values and are essential to meeting our business objectives now and in the future. We know that there is still a lot of work to be done to promote diversity of voices in industries like ours, which is why we have established targets for candidates from equity-deserving groups in leadership roles at Definity.

Our objective is to have at least 30% women and at least 15% Black, Indigenous, People of Colour (BIPOC), LGBTQ+, and/or persons with disabilities at the Vice-President and Executive Leadership Team levels by 2026. To achieve these objectives, we will identify and develop talent more deeply within the organization, broaden our recruitment practices, and review and remove biases from recruitment, selection, and planning policies.

Executive sponsorship

Each member of our Executive Leadership Team plays an important role in sponsoring inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility at Definity.

  • Rowan Saunders, our President and CEO, is our executive sponsor for inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility. He is also a mentor to the Chair of our Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA) Advisory Committee.
  • Several members of our Executive Leadership Team are also executive sponsors and participate on our Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA) Advisory Committee.
  • All other members of our Executive Leadership Team are mentors to our Employee Group Chairs, while our Employee Group Chairs are reverse mentors to them.

Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility Advisory Committee

Our Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA) Advisory Committee is made up of employees who reflect different functions, regions, levels, and lived experiences across our business. IDEA Advisory Committee is aligned to our overall company direction and plays a prominent role in establishing our diversity and inclusion strategy, plan, and measures, as well as in initiating efforts that make us more inclusive.

Employee Groups

Our IDEA-focused Employee Groups (EGs) advocate for awareness, identify barriers and opportunities for inclusion, and hold diversity and inclusion events. All employees are welcome to join any employee group, either as a community member or an ally. Joining an employee group fosters a sense of belonging and empowerment.

Anti-Racism & Cultural Equity

The Anti-Racism & Cultural Equity (ACE) EG identifies opportunities to raise awareness about how racism and lack of cultural equity affects members of our organization and our communities. The group also addresses systemic racism or cultural biases within our practices and procedures and makes recommendations to remove these barriers. Finally, ACE educates employees on anti-racism and multicultural initiatives to help them address biases and help make them effective allies.

The LGBTQ+ EG identifies opportunities to create a more inclusive workplace for the LGBTQ+ community. This group provides awareness and education on topics such as gender-neutral language and pronouns and leads commemorative events such as Pride Month. The group encourages allyship and provides support for everyone to be their authentic selves.

Women’s Empowerment

The Women’s Empowerment (WE) EG advocates for the advancement of women within their roles and careers at Definity; acts as an influencer to create opportunities for visibility and development of women at all levels; creates awareness, identifies barriers, and recommends solutions that are realistic and actionable for advancing women in the workplace; and supports enterprise-wide events and commemorations.
